Advocacy Committee

Description

Continually monitor legislative, regulatory and administrative changes on the national and state levels to inform comprehensive political advocacy efforts on behalf of AACS members and cosmetic surgery.

Subcommittees

State Advocacy Subcommittees will work on grassroots efforts in their state to stay informed on and appropriately respond to legislative issues affecting cosmetic surgeons.

Goals

  • Proactively identify legislative, regulatory and administrative action of interest to cosmetic surgeons.
  • Collaborate with the ABCS and ABFCS to determine responsive action.
  • Actively communicate and educate AACS members on matters of public policy and inspire engagement and action.

Time Commitment & Qualifications

The committee will hold quarterly, one-hour virtual meetings, plus two, one-hour meetings with ABCS and ABFCS leadership per year. Additional time will be needed to study issues and policies, participate in conversations and provide feedback via email when requested.

Those volunteering for this committee must have an understanding of the state and federal legislative and regulatory processes as well as an interest in advocacy and public policy.
