Recent Change to ABCS Exam Requirements
The ABCS recently announced a change to their exam requirements. As an update, an ABCS exam applicant no longer needs to obtain his/her certification in their primary specialty to take the exam. Proof of completion of an ACGME Surgical Residency in their primary surgical specialty along with completion of their AACS Fellowship would be a pathway to take the ABCS certifying examination.
Other News from the ABCS
During Patient Safety Awareness Week in March, the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS) announced our Cosmetic Surgery Patient Safety® Certification. This news was picked up by 15 different media outlets, including MedEsthetics and Plastic Surgery Practice.
This added safety credential helps build trust with patients, assuring them that their surgeon is committed to staying up to date on research-driven best practices for patient safety. As an ABCS diplomate, this distinction differentiates you in your market.
To earn the Cosmetic Surgery Patient Safety® certification, surgeons must pass a comprehensive Patient Safety Exam in addition to the fellowship training and exams they completed to become board certified cosmetic surgeons. Surgeons who earn this badge can proudly post it on their social media and display it on their website and in marketing materials.
