Program Description
Dr. Tanuj Nakra and his partners at TOC Eye and Face are pleased to offer a one-year facial cosmetic surgery fellowship beginning each year on July 1. Dr. Nakra and his partners perform the full spectrum of facial cosmetic surgeries with emphasis on blepharoplasty, fat transfer, and facelifts. There is a special practice interest in revision surgery, including revision blepharoplasty, revision facelifts, and revision rhinoplasty. The prospective fellow will work side-by-side with the preceptors in their private practices and in the operating room. Fellows will be asked to participate in surgery and in clinic based on graduated proficiency. The fellow will be given an opportunity to develop a fellow clinic and to generate their own cases. There is an expectation of high performance, scholarly production, and cooperation with allied specialties. Stipend and benefits should be discussed with the Program Director.
Training Fellow Prerequisites
The Training Fellow must qualify per the AACS fellowship guidelines. They must be able to obtain an unrestricted Texas medical license. The applicant must be either MD or DO.
About
Tanuj Nakra, MD, FACS, FAACS is a triple board-certified in cosmetic surgery, facial cosmetic surgery and ophthalmology. Dr. Nakra is is a full-time faculty member of the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin and is a Fellowship Director of an AACS Facial Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship. He has been an invited keynote speaker at major conferences around the world, and has delivered over 300 lectures worldwide. He is widely recognized as a major contributor to the field of cosmetic surgery and he was the 2024 recipient of the ASOPRS Baylis Cosmetic Surgery Award. He was also the invited guest on Peter Attia’s podcast The Drive- episode #355. Dr. Nakra has authored over 75 peer-reviewed scientific articles and has been the PI for numerous grant-supported research projects. He has served on the Executive Committee of the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery, as a Board Member of the Cosmetic Surgery Foundation, and on the Organizing Committee of the annual AACS meeting.
Born in London, England, Dr. Nakra was educated at Washington University in St. Louis, Rush Medical College in Chicago, and UCLA. After residency and fellowship training at UCLA, he served on the UCLA faculty and established a private practice in Beverly Hills and in Santa Barbara. For the past 17 years he has called TOC Eye and Face in Austin home, and outside of the office he enjoys the arts, running, and live music.
