Program Description

The Castellano Cosmetic Surgery Center Fellowship Program, led by Joseph J. Castellano, MD (Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon and General Surgeon) includes a high volume of all types of cosmetic breast surgery, major body contouring, liposuction, major facial cosmetic surgery procedures of all types and non-invasive esthetic devices and procedures. The fellowship is located at a newly constructed, state of the art facility in the heart of South Tampa. Two licensed and accredited surgery suites are located on site. Other faculty includes Dr. Mindi Giglio.

This fellowship has been designed to educate and prepare qualified surgeons for successful practice in cosmetic surgery.  The average fellow is directly involved in over 1,000 surgical procedures over the course of the program.

Fellows are involved with all aspects of a cosmetic surgery practice and patient care, including consultation, pre-op, marking, surgery, post-operative follow up and treatment of complication. There is daily instruction and teaching with most patients. The typical surgical case log is an average 10 patients under general anesthesia every week and an average of 30 non-invasive procedures on clinic days.

Stipend and benefits should be discussed with the Program Director. The program covers medical malpractice insurance for the fellow. The program duration is 1 year. Completion of this AACS accredited fellowship may allow the fellow to be eligible to sit the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery examinations and become ABCS board certified.

Training Fellow Prerequisites

This program accepts Board Certified, Board Eligible General Surgeons, OMFS, OB/GYN and ENT’s who can obtain an unrestricted medical license in Florida. The Training Fellow must qualify per the AACS fellowship guidelines.

Dr. Joseph J. Castellano is the founder of Castellano Cosmetic Surgery Center. As a Top 250 member by Allergan and winner of numerous awards for cosmetic procedures, the practice is considered the premier place in Tampa for cosmetic surgical procedures, laser treatments, injectables and aesthetic procedures.

Prior to opening his private practice, he completed a fellowship in 2010-2011 with Dr. Robert Jackson in Indiana focused entirely on cosmetic surgery of the face and body. During his fellowship, he received specialized training in facial rejuvenation, breast augmentation, abdominoplasty, and body contouring.

Dr. Castellano is board certified with the American Board of Surgery, and the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the AMA.
