Be prepared to EXPERIENCE. PERSONAL. EXCELLENCE. Dr. James Koehler established Eastern Shore Cosmetic Surgery in the sunny, bayside town of Fairhope, AL in 2014. The sole practitioner at ESCS, Dr. Koehler performed over 800 procedures last year on over 500 patients in his AAAHC accredited facility. This fellowship program will prepare the qualified surgeon for a successful practice in cosmetic surgery by requiring involvement in all aspects of the practice and patient care. 

Training Fellows in the program will work alongside Dr. Koehler and be involved in a high volume of consultation, pre-op, surgery, post-op and follow-up appointments. Each Training Fellow should be prepared to operate on an average of 10 surgeries under general anesthesia per week; 10-15 surgical consultations per week; 50 cosmetic/aesthetic patients per week. There will be daily instruction and teaching so that a graduating Training Fellow will be prepared to work in an independent practice if so desired. 

Stipend and benefits should be discussed with the Program Director. Program duration is 52 weeks. Completion of this Program may allow the fellow to be eligible to sit the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery Examinations and become ABCS board certified.

Training Fellow Prerequisites

The Training Fellow must qualify per the AACS fellowship guidelines. Training Fellow will be required to obtain an unencumbered Alabama medical license; obtain privileges at our local affiliate hospital, Thomas Hospital; obtain personal malpractice insurance preferably through Medical Protective Company’s program designed for AACS fellows.

About

Dr. Koehler is a board certified cosmetic surgeon, certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. After completing residency, he completed 3 years of accredited fellowship training specifically in cosmetic surgery. He graduated Magna cum laude from the University of Alabama in Birmingham Medical School and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society for his academic achievements. He has lectured nationally and internationally to other surgeons on his cosmetic surgery techniques. He has been an examiner for the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and served on the board of trustees for the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Koehler has been practicing exclusively cosmetic surgery for over 15 years and has thousands of satisfied patients. He has performed over 1200 breast augmentations and over 1500 tummy tucks.
