Akkary Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa offers a one-year General Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship, with the option to extend the program over 2 years if applicable. Dr. Akkary is double board certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS) and the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery (ABFCS), and the fellowship is conducted within an AAAHC-accredited surgical facility that upholds stringent ABCS patient safety standards.

The weekly schedule is structured for balanced, realistic practice exposure:

• 2 operating room days
• 2 clinic days
• 1 administrative/education day focused on business operations, safety systems, documentation, QI processes, and program development

Only one Fellow is accepted each year (start date July 1) to ensure individualized mentorship and broad surgical exposure. As the practice continues to grow, the fellowship experience will expand further—a new cosmetic surgeon is being recruited, and a new Pittsburgh location is being added, giving the Fellow unique experience in multi-site operations, safety integration, and practice expansion planning.

Our on-site Medical Spa provides extensive nonsurgical aesthetic exposure, including injectables, skin resurfacing, laser technologies, lymphatic treatments, aesthetic skincare, hormone optimization, and medical weight management. The Fellow participates in staff meetings and gains insight into workflow design, operational structure, safety protocols, and financial systems across both the surgical and spa divisions.

Formal education includes scheduled didactic sessions, daily case-based teaching, and Fellow-led presentations during live surgery workshops. A curated reading list and detailed program guidelines are provided at the start of training.

The program is conducted in our accredited Morgantown facility, with dedicated workspace, educational resources, computers for case logging, and on-site accommodations for overnight patients. Fellows may also engage in selected clinical activities at the new Pittsburgh location as it becomes operational.

Completion of this AACS-accredited fellowship qualifies the Fellow to sit for the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS) examination.
