Dr. Mangubat’s General Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship Program offers significant hands-on clinical experience in facial, body and hair restoration cosmetic surgery.  As a critical part of training, the fellow is integrated into the daily activities of the practice and becomes an integral member of the team.  Our office hours are M-F 8-5pm and the fellow will be present for all patient encounters including taking nightly call for our patients. 

Our fellow is responsible for all aspects of patient care.  During the first 6 months, the fellow is groomed to become independent in certain aspects of care.  As the fellow develops a firm grasp of patient care, he/she is permitted is act semi-independently with consultation with Dr. Mangubat.  Typically by the end of 6 months in the fellowship, Dr. Mangubat has identified areas of strength and proficiency and accordingly, the fellow is permitted to act independently. 

When the fellow’s surgical judgment and skills develop into attending level proficiency, he/she is permitted to see and schedule patients for surgery independently but with attending consultation.  The fellow, however, will take full responsibility of perioperative and postoperative care of the “fellow cases”.  Dr. Mangubat believes this is an essential aspect of becoming an attending-level cosmetic surgeon and expects all of his fellows to be able to act independently. 

Dr. Mangubat also conducts hands-on instructive live surgery workshops.  The fellow will be responsible for attending and assisting in all aspects of the workshop as it provides an additional opportunity for learning.

Dr. Mangubat has two adjunct faculty in Facial plastic surgery and in OMFS where the fellow will have opportunity to learn a different point of view.

Stipend and benefits should be discussed with the Program Director. Completion of this AACS accredited fellowship may allow the fellow to be eligible to sit the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery examinations and become ABCS board certified.

Training Fellow Prerequisites

The applicant must be a physician (MD, DO, MBBS) trained and board eligible in one of the surgical specialties listing in the AACS fellowship guidelines.  The Training Fellow must qualify per the AACS fellowship guidelines, and obtain an unrestricted Washington State medical license.
